Project search

Hello hello!

You are one of a handful of people I know who ‘know people’. You have an ear to the ground and an eye for opportunities…

Your help would be truly appreciated: who do you know in business who needs a hand?

Since completing my 2300km solo trek of New Zealand I have been figuring out ‘the next step’ (as well as writing a book about my journey). I now understand that a short-term project is required to set me up for my next adventure.

I’m looking for:

  • 3-12 months of contract work.
  • Administration, training, writing, teamwork, computer based, marketing, coaching, strategising, web, social media… I’m a jack of many trades and a master of a couple.
  • Based anywhere – I will happily relocate for the right opportunity.

Below is my CV which details how I might solve the issues faced by an organisation you know of, and covers my previous successes.

Would you please take 30 seconds to consider who might benefit from bringing an opportunity-thinking and get-stuck-in-and-do-it guy into their team? And forward them the link to this page with a covering note? You could well make their day with the referral…

Thanks heaps for your help!

Smiles,

Stuart Fleming

The key skills and mindsets I bring to each of my professional projects are:

Relationship-building

I lead teams, coach/mentor individuals and participate in executive committees.

Verbal communication

I’m experienced as a professional speaker, trainer and Master of Ceremonies.

Written communication

I write regularly for magazines, newsletters, reports, books and blogs.

Global + Detail thinking

I break big projects into achievable pieces and have a knack of seeing the potential in a person or situation.

Sense of calm

Staying focused and positive during periods of high workload and looming deadlines – with a laugh or two – is usually appreciated.

Technology-savvy

Having advanced skills in Microsoft Office, plus experience with social networking and web-design, is made easier with a typing speed of 70+wpm.

How I can best help you

If these situations sound familiar, then we should talk:

“I only need a helping hand for a short time.”

That’s a good thing, because I’m searching for a short-term project: 3-12 months would be ideal.

“My to-do list is huge and doesn’t seem to get any smaller!”

How frustrating! In nearly every role I quickly turn into the ‘go-to guy’, renowned for my willingness to pitch in and help out. What lingering tasks can I take over to make your month smoother?

“I’m determined not to hire staff – I run a lean operation.”

Good! I have my own limited liability company so am happy to contract to you for as long as required. No PAYE hassles!

“Typical. Here’s a guy who could help me but he’s not in my town.”

I currently reside in Christchurch but I consider myself of ‘no fixed abode’. Thus I will relocate for the right project.

“I am tired of hiring muppets who need me to babysit them!”

I turn up on time. I take direction. I get on with it and comfortably work autonomously. I play well with others. I’m an asset, not a liability.

My most recent project (unpaid)

Walking the length of New Zealand

MyAdventurePlus.com                                                                                Nov 10 – Apr 11

After the September Christchurch earthquake I decided to undertake a long-held dream: to trek solo from Cape Reinga to Bluff, following Te Araroa (“the long pathway” – TeAraroa.org.nz), our national hiking trail.

88 days of walking, 2300km and several impressive blisters later, winter and an injury forced me to end the adventure just past Lake Coleridge in the Southern Alps. Now I have a book to write about the trek, since I’ve already sold 150 copies!
